MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT(‘MHPSS’) AND WELLBEING

We promote mental health and psychosocial wellbeing by creating supportive environments where children, young people, and communities can access emotional support, build resilience, and navigate life’s challenges. Through awareness, peer support, mentorship, and community engagement, we work to reduce stigma, strengthen coping skills, and foster healthier, more inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.

KEY PROGRAMMES

1. SCHOOL-BASED MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT(MHPSS)

ATF promotes mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in ATF supported schools by creating safe, supportive environments where learners can express themselves, manage stress, and navigate everyday challenges. Through awareness sessions, peer support, and life-skills activities, we help learners build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop the confidence to thrive both academically and socially.

2. TEACHER CAPACITY BUILDING

We support teacher capacity building by strengthening educators’ skills to promote learners’ mental health, psychosocial wellbeing, and positive classroom environments. Through training and knowledge-sharing, we equip teachers with practical approaches to identify learners in distress, provide appropriate support, and foster safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning spaces where every child can thrive.

3. YOUTH PEER SUPPORT & GIRL TO GIRL EMPOWERMENT

We promote youth peer support and girl-to-girl empowerment by creating safe spaces where young people can share experiences, learn from one another, and build meaningful support networks. Through peer mentorship, dialogue, and life-skills development, we encourage confidence, resilience, positive decision-making, and mutual support, empowering young people and girls to navigate challenges and reach their full potential.
